Bhutan Rafting Tour

Bhutan Rafting Tour

Bhutan with its various valleys and rivers offers a variety of choices for people who love water sports like rafting and kayaking. The rivers of Bhutan are generally very steep and powerful and road access is limited, so only a relatively short section of the main rivers is suitable for kayaking and rafting.  The clean and clear rivers of Bhutan are one of the kingdom’s best kept open secrets.

Until 2000, rafting was a new concept to the Bhutanese tourism. It only began in 1999, when a group of American tourists kayaked along the Drangmechu, Trashigang. According to the river survey conducted in 2000, recommends 10 rivers in Bhutan i.e. Paro and Thimphu (Pachu and Wangchu), Punakha (Mochu, Phochu, Punatsangchu), Trongsa and Bumthang (Mangdechu, Chamkharchu and Tangchu) and Luntshi and Monggar (Kurichu) and Trashigang (Drangmechu).

Rafting and Kayaking in Bhutan is like a ‘dream come true’ with the entire beautiful scene and all the rivers give a different perspective and excitement. The natural setting and the sheer variety of the rivers’ courses makes up for a unique opportunity to explore Bhutan’s beautiful wilderness.
